NRC specializes in providing the undersea cable survey and installation industry with highly detailed, timely and accurate information on the types of fishing, extent of fishing activity, potential threats to undersea cables from fishing, and other related data. NRC believes that by supplying high quality fisheries data to the cable owners, operators and installers, cable routes can be selected faster and with less risk of unforeseen damage to cables. NRC's work in the cable industry includes the following:
- Fishery desktop reports (descriptions of fleets, vessels, fishing gear, bottom penetration, operational methods, GIS maps of fishing effort distribution and intensity, and analyses of fishery threats to cables and pipelines)
- Fishery monitoring along cable/pipeline routes
- Advice on changes in fisheries that may offer additional fault threats
- Fishery caused cable fault analysis review
Our services include assisting cable/pipeline owners in public education programs of appropriate fishers' groups to achieve effective fault prevention. NRC has completed many successful cable-fisheries projects over the last ten years and has formed a growing client base of telecommunication cable and surveying companies for which we coordinate ongoing work.
