NRC has been involved in several projects in the ever increasingly important realm of environmental impacts relating to fisheries. Our expertise in this area has included playing lead fisheries expert roles in major oil spills in Alaska (Exxon Valdez, 1989) and in the Shetland Isles (Braer, 1993) where the environment and fisheries resources were dramatically affected by these incidents. NRC has undertaken a variety of other smaller scale projects in Alaska and Washington assessing environmental impacts by conducting and directing our own field work, while also having significant experience coordinating complicated team-oriented monitoring and recovery work in fisheries-impact assessment projects.
